The Banaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated in the holy city of Varanasi. It was founded by the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, in 1916 with cooperation of great personalities like Dr. Annie Besant, who viewed it as the University of India. The university has taken a leadership role in promoting new ideas, the spirit of integration of the world, and cultivation of intellect and culture. The Department of Statistics, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has been one of the leading departments in the country. It is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and high-quality education in statistics and related disciplines. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, enabling students to gain a strong foundation in statistical theory, data analysis, and research methodologies. The University Grants Commission supported the department in the form of Special Assistance Program (2009-14) and Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi helped it under its FIST Program (2004-09).
